3 Things You Should Know About Dental Implants | Sacramento Dentists

Posted by Brandon Miyasaki on Oct 4, 2017 10:58:38 AM
Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. They are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having a removable partial or complete set of dentures. In this post, we'll quickly cover 3 things you should know about dental implants including why we are so proud to offer them at our Sacramento dental office.

1. You can feel confident with dental implants

Let's first talk about problems patients face with dentures and bridges. A patient with dentures has to worry about them slipping or falling out, speaking with them in, and may experience discomfort when biting into foods. Patients with a tooth-supported bridge require grinding away the teeth on one or both sides of the missing tooth or teeth- thereby damaging healthy teeth to restore those that are missing. Did we mention that missing teeth may cause the jaw bone to deteriorate and the risk of teeth shifting? Thank goodness we have dental implants.

With dental implants you won't have to worry about your smile looking different or missing teeth that could cause your face to appear sunken and sad. In fact, dental implants are the only dental restoration option that preserves and stimulates natural bone. You won't have to worry about removable dentures or tooth-supported replacement teeth from loosening or falling out when you talk, eat, and laugh. And last, but definitely not least, you can feel confident and comfortable when eating your favorite foods!

2. Dental implants are durable and a cost effective solution

Although dental implants may cost more upfront than alternative treatments, they can last a lifetime when properly placed and cared for. Dental bridges on average only last about five to seven years, while certain types can last over 10 years. Overtime, dental bridges can really add up making dental implants a more durable cost efficient solution.

3. See a proven implant dentist

With all the benefits, why don't more general dentists offer implants to their patients? There are many factors to take into consideration, but a lot of dentists simply don't have the resources or experience. Dr. Michael Miyasaki has been delivering implants for over two decades and continues to invest in the latest systems and technologies. At Miyasaki Dental, we strive to be the best dentists in Sacramento and ensure the highest quality of patient care. It is also one of the proud reasons our Sacramento dental office was recognized by Sacramento Magazine as the "Face of Lifetime Dental Health."
