About Us
Dental care should make sense to you. You should understand what we see, why we recommend treatment, and how each decision may affect your oral health over time.
For more than 60 years, Miyasaki Dental has cared for the Sacramento community as a multigenerational dental practice. Today, Dr. Michael Miyasaki practices alongside his daughter, Dr. Peterson, continuing a family tradition while bringing current technology, education, and treatment approaches into the office.
Our philosophy, “Crafting Lifetime Smiles,” reflects the way we approach care. Rather than focusing only on the problem in front of us, we consider your oral health, function, long-term needs, and personal goals when planning treatment.
Dentistry for Different Stages of Life
Dental needs change with age, health, and life circumstances. We provide care for children, adults, and older adults, from routine prevention to more involved restorative, cosmetic, orthodontic, and implant treatment.
Our services include general and preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative care, dental implants, orthodontics, TMJ/TMD treatment, and dental sleep medicine.
Some patients come to us for a routine examination. Others need help rebuilding worn or missing teeth, improving their bite, addressing jaw discomfort, or planning a cosmetic change. We take the time to understand what brought you in before deciding what care makes sense.
Our Dentistry 2.0 Philosophy
We refer to our approach as Dentistry 2.0. It moves away from a purely reactive model in which dental care begins only after something hurts or breaks.
Instead, we emphasize prevention, early identification of changes, careful diagnosis, and treatment planning supported by appropriate technology. That may mean monitoring an area rather than treating it immediately, using diagnostic information to better understand a problem, or planning several stages of treatment with the long-term result in mind.
Technology is part of that approach, but it does not replace clinical judgment or conversation with you.
Technology With a Clinical Purpose
Our practice uses advanced dental technology to support diagnosis, treatment planning, preventive care, and restorative dentistry.
Depending on your needs, that may include:
CEREC® Same-Day Dentistry
Digital design and in-office fabrication for certain ceramic restorations.
CBCT 3D Imaging
Three-dimensional imaging for situations in which additional anatomical detail can improve treatment planning.
Pearl AI-Powered Dental Imaging
An additional tool that helps us review dental radiographs and identify areas that may deserve closer attention.
Biofluorescence Imaging
Technology that can help visualize plaque biofilm and fluorescence changes associated with areas of demineralization or decay.
VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening
Enhanced visualization that supplements our examination of oral tissues.
TMD and Bite Technology
We select technology according to the clinical question we need to answer rather than using every device for every patient.
Education Is Part of Our Practice
We want you to understand your dental health rather than simply receive a list of recommended procedures. During your visits, we explain our findings, discuss available options, and answer questions about the advantages, limitations, and expected outcomes of treatment.
Dr. Michael Miyasaki is a respected dental speaker and educator. He and his daughter, Dr. Yazzi are involved in dental education and the evaluation of dental products and technology, bringing that educational perspective into patient care.
Their involvement in dentistry outside the treatment room also supports the practice’s commitment to staying informed about changing techniques, materials, and technologies.
Comprehensive Care Under One Roof
Our goal is to look at how different parts of your oral health relate to one another. A worn tooth may involve more than the tooth itself. Missing teeth can affect bite and function. Jaw discomfort may require evaluation of the joints, muscles, and bite. Cosmetic treatment may need to account for tooth position, gum health, and existing restorations before anything is changed.
That broader view allows us to coordinate care when several needs overlap rather than treating each concern in isolation.
Our priority areas include TMJ/TMD treatment, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and orthodontics, along with comprehensive preventive and restorative care.
A Multigenerational Sacramento Practice
More than six decades in Sacramento means our practice has cared for individuals and families through many stages of life. That history matters to us, but we also believe long-term experience should continue to evolve.
By combining established clinical experience with ongoing education and technology-supported care, we aim to preserve what has worked while improving how we diagnose, explain, and provide treatment.
That balance is central to Miyasaki Dental and to our philosophy of Crafting Lifetime Smiles.
Making Dental Care Easier to Navigate
Good care also includes understanding the practical side of treatment. Our team can help you with scheduling, estimated costs, PPO dental insurance benefits, and available payment options.
We accept PPO dental insurance and also offer separate in-house Patient Plans. For qualifying treatment expenses, third-party financing is available through Cherry and CareCredit®.
Our team speaks English, Spanish, and Punjabi, helping us communicate with more members of our Sacramento community.
