Upcoming Events
Dentistry continues to change as new techniques, materials, and technologies become available. At Miyasaki Dental, continuing education gives our dentists and team opportunities to evaluate those developments, strengthen existing skills, and decide which advances may be useful in patient care.
Throughout the year, our team participates in professional courses, clinical training, webinars, and other dental education events. We do not introduce a technique or technology simply because it is new. We take time to understand how it works, where it may be useful, and how it fits into the way we provide care.

Meet Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki
Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki is a Sacramento native and graduate of the USC School of Dentistry. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, his work has focused on comprehensive, minimally invasive aesthetic and restorative dentistry, function, and patient involvement in treatment decisions.
Education has also remained an important part of his career. Dr. Miyasaki is a dental speaker, educator, and mentor who has shared his clinical experience with other dental professionals while continuing to study developing techniques, materials, and technologies.
That involvement supports the philosophy behind Miyasaki Dental: experience matters, but dental care should continue to evolve as better information and treatment options become available.
Outside the office, Dr. Miyasaki enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and exploring food and wine.
Technology & Materials
Continuing education often gives our dentists an opportunity to evaluate new technology before deciding whether it belongs in the practice. At Miyasaki Dental, we use technology when it can provide clinically useful information, improve treatment planning, support prevention, or make certain procedures more efficient.
Our Dentistry 2.0 philosophy reflects this approach. Rather than waiting for dental problems to become more advanced, we emphasize prevention, early identification, careful diagnosis, and technology-supported care when appropriate.
Pearl AI-Powered Dental Imaging
Pearl uses artificial intelligence to analyze dental radiographs and highlight areas that may deserve closer review. It gives our dentists an additional layer of information when examining dental images.
Artificial intelligence does not make the diagnosis or replace our clinical judgment. We consider its findings together with your dental examination, symptoms, history, and other diagnostic information.
Early Detection With Biofluorescence
Dr. Michael Miyasaki traveled to Korea for advanced training in biofluorescence technology. This light-based imaging approach can help visualize bacterial biofilm and fluorescence changes associated with areas of demineralization or decay.
Dr. Miyasaki became the first dentist in the United States certified in this technology. Dr. Yasmine “Yazzi” Peterson and our clinical team now use biofluorescence as part of our preventive approach when appropriate.
By making biofilm easier to see, the technology can also help us show you areas that may need more attention during daily brushing and interdental cleaning.
Bliss Biofluorescence Screening
The Bliss screening system allows us to use biofluorescence during dental assessment and patient education. It can provide additional information about plaque biofilm and areas that warrant a closer clinical examination.
Like our other diagnostic technologies, Bliss supports the examination rather than replacing it. We interpret what the system shows in the context of the rest of your oral health.
Technology for TMJ and Bite Evaluation
TMJ/TMD treatment is another area in which technology may provide useful information. Depending on the case, we may use tools such as TENS, EMG, CBCT imaging, or OccluSense® to evaluate different aspects of jaw-muscle activity, anatomy, or bite contacts.
Not every person with jaw symptoms needs every technology. We select the tools that are relevant to the symptoms and clinical findings.
Learning Before Adopting
Our dentists are not only users of dental technology; education and product evaluation are part of their professional work. That gives us the opportunity to examine new products and techniques critically before incorporating them into patient care.
Some innovations become valuable additions to the practice. Others may not offer enough benefit to change the way we already work. The goal is not to collect technology. It is to understand which tools can genuinely support prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or patient education.
That approach is part of our commitment to Crafting Lifetime Smiles.
